We at From The Mountain are proud to bring you 100% cashmere hand spun yarn, straight from women spinning for us in Afghanistan. Spinning cashmere provides these women with a fair wage and an alternative to growing poppies for opium production.
Our cashmere is deliciously soft, with a hand you have to feel to believe, and it blooms beautifully. Knitters have described our cashmere as "absolutely luscious," "silky as butter," and "incredibly soft." But don't take their word for it - try it out! We offer the yarn in five weights:
Sport: 22-24 sts/10cm on 3.5mm/US 4 needles, 100g, 250m +/-
DK: 20-22 sts/10cm on 4mm/US 6 needles, 100g, 185m +/-
Worsted: 18-20 sts/10cm on 5mm/US 8 needles, 100g, 150m +/-
Chunky: 14-16 sts/10cm on 6mm/US 10 needles, 100g, 100m +/-
Bulky: 10-12 sts/10cm on 9mm/US 13 needles, 100g, 60m +/-
The yarn comes in four natural, undyed colors: natural white, gray, light brown, and dark brown, single-color and marled.
